.Affirmative Action.

Recently there has been a flair up in the never-ending argument over Affirmative Action. This recent flair up occurred in New Haven, Connecticut over the repealing of a White Firefighter's promotion. This issue is now going to be brought before the Supreme Court and they will judge accordingly. I wanted to write about affirmative action, give a brief history and my opinion on affirmative action specifically how it relates to college admissions. Affirmative action was brought into place during the 1960s in an effort to promote "equal opportunity." Before affirmative action was created the only thing that basically existed in the work and school place was white domination. Not only white domination but white male domination. I've heard many people argue back and forth about affirmative action and those who are against it prominently use the term "reverse racism." That by promoting or in the case of schools, accepting one race over another to fill a quota is reverse racism. I've heard even from peers of mine how unfair it that just because he or she is white, worked their ass of in school, some young black or Latino student is given their spot. This is where I begin to lose my cool. The argument over affirmative action always seems to be about race and filling some sort of quota. Well, since the beginning of affirmative action the number 1 beneficiaries have been upper middle class white women. All those oppose affirmative action seem to forget this weighty statistic and have swept it under the rug completely. So if black and Latinos haven't benefited from affirmative action as much as white women have, why aren't you complaining about the abundance of white females in your schools? What infuriates me the most is people telling me and my people that we are fulfilling some sort of quota, that I didn't have to work as hard as you did to get into your school. Well, motherfucker first off I'm not fulfilling some sort of quota I got here based on merit nothing else. Don't sit there looking smug and judging me like I'm beneath you. Fuck you! You capitalist piece of shit, I am not a statistic and I am certainly no ones quota. I deal with shit on a daily basis that you can't even wrap your ignorant mind around. And for you to sit there and tell me this is reverse racism, you must be out of your god damn mind. Really? Really now? Because I still see a prison population with over 50% black people, I still see Latinos heavily underrepresented in the middle class, I still see ghettos and inner cities dominated by Blacks, Latinos, and Asian immigrants. I fill no ones quota and I will break every stereotype imaginable. Mama ain't raise no fool.
