.Three Cheers for Racism and Sexism: Hip Hip Hooray.

On his radio show this week conservative talk show host and former Watergate extraordinaire, G Gordon Liddy, had this to say about Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotomayor:

"I understand that they found out today that Miss Sotomayor is a member of La Raza, which means in illegal alien, “the race.” And that should not surprise anyone because she’s already on record with a number of racist comments. Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something, or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad. Lord knows what we would get then. And everybody is cheering because Hispanics and females have been, quote, underrepresented, unquote. And as you pointed out, which I thought was quite insightful, the Supreme Court is not designed to be and should not be a representative body."

Oh Senor Liddy, how insightful you are. He inferred that she is a racist because she a proud member of La Raza, the largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, which according to him means "the race" in "illegal alien". First off Mr. Liddy I believe the language is Spanish not illegal alien as you so elequently put it. And I see your point, why would she be want to be a part of group who fights for the rights of minorities? That's absurd. I'm glad Mr. Liddy is so culturally sensitive does my heart proud to see a White conservative supporting miniority rights. Also Mr. Liddy said that he hoped she was not menstruating while making important judicial decisions. Ahhh, the wonderful smell of anti-women politics, it nice to know there are still men out there who believe that women are incapable of making decisions that stray away from pots and pans. Ahh Mr. Liddy your debonaire, your critical thinking, your congnizant points, nay your genius points, oh how they give me a hard on!

And as for your last assesment about how the Supreme Court should not be a representative body seems odd to me when these decisions affect everyone in this country, which happens to include Hispanics and women. The problem I have with you Mr. Liddy is not what you have to say, I expect that from someone of your class level and political views, no it's that fact that you have an audience made up of millions of ignorant people who believe the vile shit that comes out of your mouth. This isn't some asshole on a college radio show, this is someone reaching out to the masses and they believe him. Hip Hip Hooray!
