.Please Arrest Me, I Smoke Marijuana.

Double standards don't fly with me. Most of the arguments for the prohibition of marijuana are not only hypocritical but factually wrong. Ideally, we as a society should distinguish a drug as legal or illegal based on the harm that it can cause; but we don't. Over 3 million people die each year, just in the U.S. alone, from alcohol and cigarette related causes every year. To this present day, there has not been one death caused by marijuana. Yet, alcohol and cigarettes remain legal and marijuana illegal. D.A.R.E., Above the Influence, and other organizations against the use of marijuana make this plant scary. That if you use this plant, it is a "gateway" to other drugs. What these companies fail to mention is that their primary endorsers are alcohol and tobacco companies. Now why would alcohol and tobacco companies run campaigns against marijuana? Because they want to distinguish between what is a legal drug and what is an illegal drug. Nicotine found within in cigarettes in known to be a highly addictive substance and cigarette companies now put more nicotine in their products to keep their users hooked. People who smoke cigarettes are addicts, yet they are not demonized like marijuana users. There has been no evidence to prove that marijuana is addictive. Marijuana is also illegal because of its lack of industry. Alcohol and tobacco are huge money makers, legal marijuana is not. Marijuana is a weed, it can grow anywhere, so if you can grow your own, why buy it? The government loses money and we can't have that. Thus marijuana is still illegal. Propaganda is the fuel against the legalization of marijuana.

Cannabis is the genus that marijuana is found under. Hemp is part of this genus and hemp has a wide variety of uses including paper, textiles, biodegradable plastics, construction, health food, and fuel. Cannabis can also cure many ailments including nausea and vomiting, anorexia, weight-loss, spasticity, painful conditions, especially neurogenic pain, movement disorders, asthma, and glaucoma. What the fuck can alcohol or tobacco cure?

How can alcohol and tobacco remain legal, while marijuana continues to remain illegal? It's honestly baffling. I'd like to leave you with one more point which will hopefully hit home with some of you. A huge majority of those against marijuana are conservative and religious. They make this plant out to be the "devil's" plant. So, if God created the heavens and the Earth, then God created marijuana. So what you're saying is God fucked up. Now what I'm thinking, is God put a little insurance on his creation and that he/she/hermaphrodite God just wanted people to relax and smoke a little reefer every now and again. Smile a little people, life ain't that serious.
